I went to his truck and he had a big gun rack in the back with a big rifle on it. His name was Elmer. I showed him the Gita and told him it was about meditation and Ancient Indian Knowledge. Some sort of light went on in his Primitive country mind and he pulled out ten dollars and Grabbed that Gita like there was no tomorrow.

A person may have many many flaws in his character, but the devotee extracts his good qualities only, and ignores his negative qualities; in so doing he encourages and enthuses the person of doubtful character to be more inspired to take to Krishna consciousness. In turn, Krishna purifes the person and his flaws eventually vanish.

In Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 12 Text 15, the Supreme Lord describes the qualities of a devotee who He considers very dear to Him. In particular, the Lord is pleased when a devotee takes care not to place others in difficulty on his account, and in so doing, does not become a source of disturbance to others. yasmaan nodvijate loko lokaan nodvijate ca yah harshamarsha-bhayodvegair mukto yah sa ca me priyah
