More than 739 copper 'kalasams' were reported missing from the ancient Ramanatha Swamy temple here on Saturday, while one of the temple officials was placed under suspension in this connection. Temple Executive Officer Mahadevan said, 739 of the 1008 'kalasams' were reported missing from the temple and Mr Narayana Iyer (39) who was incharge of these, was placed under suspension on charges of theft.

'Krishna-aayo Natkhat Nandlala', a 3D animation film on the childhood heroics of Lord Krishna will be released on September 29. Producer of the film, dubbed as India's first 3D animation film, Jayantilal Gada told reporters that many generations in India have grown up hearing the stories of super heroes from the Indian mythology, but none of them could be seen on the Indian screen as an animated character, which appealed various generations at a time.

Two men who vandalized a Hindu temple got a break when the leader of the temple helped persuade a judge to give them lighter sentences. "In this day and age of 'Eye for an Eye,'" Dr. Shashikant Sane told Hennepin County District Judge Kevin Burke, the two men deserved a chance to become "productive citizens," not "hardened criminals."

The nine-day 'Navarathri' annual 'Brahmotsavam' festival at the Venkateswara temple on Tirumala, will be held from September 25, according to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) authorities. The festival will begin formally with the hoisting of the temple flag. The festival will conclude with the ritual of 'chakrasanam'- dipping of Lord Venkateswara's weapon 'disc'(sudharsana chakra) in the temple tank in the morning and the lowering of the temple flag in the evening.

Security in this temple town has been tightened in view of the celebrations of Sri Krishna Janmastami on August 16.

Over three lakh people were affected as River Godavari's tributaries Gawtami and Vashita breached embankments, even as the level in the river was 13.7 feet above the third danger level mark of 52 feet in the temple town of Bhadrachalam on Monday. Reviewing the flood situation at a high-level meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy appointed three senior officers to oversee relief and rehabilitation in the districts of Khammam, East And West Godavari Districts as large tracts of land were inundated with flood water.

Bangalore - A bomb hoax call at the Iskcon temple on Thursday evening caused panic and chaos. Though the caller remained untraced, the call was made to the police control room around 5 pm. Immediately, a bomb detection squad rushed to the temple and cordoned off the premises. A two-hour search revealed that it was a hoax call.
