More on the Gurukula Problem

Dear Gauri Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Many devotees have shown great displeasure with the huge amount of salary you are receiving not out of envy but because this is Krishna's laxmi. Srila Prabhupada would not approve of such salaries. I know you are a very nice devotee, and what you have done in the past is a grave mistake, but in public opinion there can't be such flaws in a leader.

Though you properly would not do such a thing again, as a society we have to clear our Gurukulas from such offensive behavior. I have always had affection for kids. I see this as the number one problem in ISKCON, abuse of children. Having seen Gurukulas in India, it is sad, but I have no confidence in them. I will not recommend anyone to send their kids there, till ISKCON leadership accepts a no-tolerance policy in this matter, We have not seen this yet and it is very disappointing. Words simply can't describe it.

Why do parents like myself have fear to send my son to Gurukula? My son could have gotten Gurukula training, but the continued abuse we hear about, and the lack of compassion we have seen in some Gurukula teachers dealings with others shows us for sure the total incompetence of the Gurukula system. Many churches, including the Catholic church, have the same problems. This part of children being under the care of someone else but their own parents after school does not seem to work in Kali yuga. This is my observation.

Gurukula is fine when the parents take their kid back home every day. Leaving a small child unprotected in a Gurukula is simply for lazy parents, that is my observation. And if the child of the most prominent Gurukula teacher in ISKCON ends up chasing worldly fame in Bollywood, then definitely a no-thank-you to ISKCON Gurukulas in India.

If there is something missing in the Gurukulas in India, it is the love for kids, and lack of dedication to train them and make them first-class devotees and preachers. Instead, sometimes asuras disguised as Vaisnavas end up teaching the little ones.

Prabhu I don't think you are a bad devotee, but you made some serious mistakes. You have to face the consequences of this.

Your servant,
Payonidhi das

Hare krishna Prabhu,

You all comment on what went on in a gurukula offering solutions. I went to a gurukula not for year but ten years. Gauri das was one of the many teachers I had at the gurukula.

When somebody like you says that the parents who are lazy send their kids to gurukula then i think you are looking at yourself, cause i know my dad and mum werent lazy people. so before you start branding people lazy find out from us.

Also in the gurukula many things went wrong but I always remember how a teachers had our interest in their hearts. For one teacher to look after 25 and sometimes even 75 kids (who are naturally playful) is not easy. for one a parent to look after a single child is difficult. but the teachers in gurukula gave whatever they could to these kids. I personally got slapped and hit by the teachers but I knew what i done was wrong sometimes.

but i think the real people to blame should be all of you lot who just winge and complain of how things should be and dont do a damn thing to make the movement better than to sit all day and write and criticise things. Give them the love which you wish they desrve. dont talk about it do it.

if you cant than please for gods sake don't comment on what happened with us in gurukula.

thanks
