Srila Prabhupada Spoke to Me in a Dream

As you all know, around 3 months ago I published an article requesting that someone take over administering the already established fundraising and fund distribution of the MVT Vrndavan Hospice & Infirmary. This is a very small task that requires only a few hours per month for one to three people each month. I have been grappling with 'how' to pass this on because of personal issues and have not been able to come up with a solid plan on my own for the same personal reasons. After some prayer and introspection on the matter, I had a dream where Srila Prabhupada suggested to me that the answer had been in front of me all along. "This Seva," he said,” rightfully belongs to those who care. The right heirs of this project," he continued,” should be the Vaisnavas Care group and my Giriraja Swami and his disciples." When I awoke, I knew well that this was not only sound advice from my dream, but that this is clearly the only resolve, which was the original plan when we first launched the project.

I have now therefore taken it upon myself to make my last executive decision on behalf of the MVT Vrndavan Hospice & Infirmary. I have on this day March 4, 2007 gifted/ transferred all remaining funds, along with the PayPal account and transparency-website-spreadsheet access, and all responsibility for this project into the caring and capable hands of Sangita Prabhu of Vaisnavas Care and Giriraja Swami. Included in this is a list of emails from a dozen capable and interested individuals (including Pancaratna Prabhu) whom have expressed a desire to help run this project. Among the interested devotees on this list are accountants, web developers, and even someone with non-profit experience. I am very confident that between all of you this MVT Vrndavan Hospice & Infirmary will flourish and develop until Giriraja Maharaja's permanent hospice is operational at the end of 2007 as scheduled. Additionally, since out of need this temporary hospice has also become a much-needed infirmary at the Krsna Balarama temple, it is actually conceivably possible that there will continue to be a need for this facility at the MVT even after the permanent hospice is operational. This option is a decision for all of you to consider when the time comes.

Before handing everything over, I have sent to Vrndavan enough funds to cover the expenses for three (3) months in the amount of $1600, towards the cost of 3 months MVT flat rent, the monthly maintenance stipend of our wonderful and indispensable angel and caretaker Pria Sakhi Prabhu, as well as minor incidental petty cash. This amount is to be appropriately distributed as best seen by Pria Shakhi Prabhu and Daivishakti Prabhu to properly keep the next three months of operation carefree, while the new owners transition and strategize the new management. I am confident that between all you and all the thousands of members and resources available through your society, this will become an even better and greater project.

I want to thank the three dozen donors who have made the launch of this project possible over the last two years and encourage you to please continue sending in your small donations each month because many devotees have been helped and lives saved due to your kind efforts. The number of devotees needing help each month is growing and it is time for this fund to grow, as we have only been receiving around $500 USD each month all along and will now be requiring much more in order to care for so many on a continuing basis. This month alone there are five devotees receiving care. I also wish to give thanks to the administration of the Krsna Balarama Mandhir, the MVT, Badrinarayana Prabhu, Gopal Bhatta dasa and Svavasa Prabhu for their continued support; without them this would not have been possible. Please therefore all come together and water this small creeper with volunteer work and more monthly contributions so that it grows into a healthy, robust, life saving and hospice project. The donations and subscriptions will continue to be accepted on www.buddhiyoga.org. The only difference will be that now the funds will be in the hands of the Visnanvas Care group and Giriraja Swami.

In my dream, Srila Prabhupada finished by telling me before I awoke, "I am confident that my society, which is focused on death and the art of dying, will have no problem prioritizing this project beyond the building of large temples, traveling expenses, preaching and even book distribution. If they cannot do this, then they have all failed me." Of course, it was only a dream; I for one believe that this is what Srila Prabhupada would have insisted if he were on the planet today.

Hare Krsna, good luck and fare well,

Yadunandana Pada Dasa
