I have noticed with disinterest the present debate questioning whether it is possible or not for a spirit soul to fall from the spiritual sky. There are many things in the scriptures that I don't understand and even doubt, but I do not think that through the power of my intellect that I can ever understand such things through independent effort. If it is important to my service then in time it will be revealed to me, otherwise I am comfortable with so many things still remaining mysterious to me.
Other articles, such as those that focus on situations that impact the Krsna consciousness movement, and the world, which are relevant to our present situation and to the immediate futures of both the movement and of the world, are much more engaging of my interest and of my activities. These articles range from those regarding climate change to those that affect the movement. And I see that the two are intimately related, for only a truly Krsna conscious movement will be able to stop the madness soon enough to make much of a difference.
Thus it is that I consider the Krsna consciousness movement to be of central importance, not as a facility to compete with each other over the pros and cons of accepting one belief over another, but as a facility that offers, or should offer, the means by which its followers can attain to self-realization and in this condition, enter into loving relationships with Krsna. Such enlightened servants of Krsna offer the greatest hope to this planet and to its multitude of species, only such individuals who are the sum total of all the demigods will possess, through Krsna's mercy, both the wisdom and the ability to stop the madness now. Otherwise the future looks quite bleak.
Re-aligning the movement then with Srila Prabhupada's wishes so that it will again provide such a facility is of utmost importance. It seems so far away from that now that except for such sites as this, I would give up any hope that it is Krsna's plan to avail us of the ability to cause such a change. So it is of utmost importance that such sites as these and the voices that speak from them not be silenced or minimized. They are having an effect on the consciousness of the Krsna consciousness movement. That effect is appreciated differently by different audiences, and while some view it as being of the greatest promise, others view it as the greatest threat.
The recent response by Gokulananda prabhu to Rocana das illustrates the degree to which this site and the voices upon it, principally Rocana das's, are regarded as being threatening, and of the types of mechanizations that those who feel threatened by Rocana das and The Sampradaya Sun will employ in their attempt to silence or minimize their effect.
As Rocana prabhu suggested, Gokulananda has been taken in: taken in by a presentation tailor made for individuals such as himself. Gokulananda and Rocana prabhu being as they are neighbors, invites the consideration that this is all just a disagreement between friends, but as it is not an argument over a well or a fence, but about the entire movement, that consideration is immediately dismissed. What I do see, however, is that it is not even a disagreement among friends, but between one who is somewhat ashamed of his backwoods origin or situation and who is currently on an ego trip. The country boy has gone to the big city and there he has met the movers and the shakers and not only have they noticed him, but they have treated him in such a way as to make him think that they regard him as both a person equal to them and also one deserving of respect for his wealth of good qualities, keen intelligence, etc., etc., etc. Needless to say, anyone suffering from feelings of inferiority or desiring false prestige is going to perk up their ears, open their mouths, bite and then swallow this type of bait, hook, line and sinker, just as Gokulananda has.
At this point Gokulananda has abandoned his intellectual discrimination, even the most glaring logical inconsistencies are invisible to him. All that he cares about is this feeling that he has some special place in this special society which his special new friends give to him. That's all he cares about. What those who have taken him in care about is only his usefulness to them.
Rocana prabhu has ever been humble and charming and his conversation has always been engaging of discussion of the topics of the transcendental science of Krsna consciousness, which includes, of all things "waking up". The reality that he and others here are awake to is most threatening in its import to those who wish to keep us asleep, and thus they wish nothing more than to shut Rocana up. Gokulananda prabhu has simply become a tool of theirs in an attempt to accomplish this. That he is not a very effective tool just goes to show the degree of their desperation, but we would be fools to imagine that such desperate men do not have others tools, those who are even more taken in, the disciples of such men to whom Rocana, I, and others are just like Sulocana was to Tirtha in the eyes of Kirtanananda's followers. That they have not employed such tools yet (they may be employing them now) is simply because they are afraid that such tools/actions might incriminate them, that they might end up with another Tirtha situation, or worse.
Gokulananda is a wild shot, they do not expect too much from him, nevertheless, they may continue to cultivate him if shows that he is more effective than he has been recently in either shutting Rocana up or in minimizing him. But they will not cultivate him to the degree that they will issue him such a directive or to the extent that there will be any evidence of a close connection between them.
Rocana das's reply to Gokulananda does not seem to have occasioned an immediate reply that I have noticed. Hopefully Gokulananda is thinking about the things that Rocana has said. It is a painful thing to admit, even to oneself, that one has been taken in, that one has been made a fool of, and it requires real strength to let go of one's illusion. Lets all pray that Gokulananda has the strength and courage to do this.
