Security in this temple town has been tightened in view of the celebrations of Sri Krishna Janmastami on August 16.

Additional Director General of Police (security) R K Tewari told reporters that instructions have been issued to all police personnel to exercise maximum restraint while carrying out the security drill so that pilgrims face less problems.

A proposal for declaring no fly zone in the two shrine area has been sent to the Centre and was waiting for a reply, he said.

Tewari said the tender for the purchase of 16 Close Circuit TVs for Mathura and 20 CCTV for Varanasi have been finalised. The order has been placed and installation would commence after Janmastami.
